Guys, PLEASE vote for Mickacoo. They are a non-profit, no-kill pigeon and dove rescue and they are totally FULL of birds - now they are having to turn away others that face euthanasia in other shelters :( Pepsi Refresh Everything is going to grant money to the top 15 ideas/causes in each tier. We need all the votes we can get to help over 300 pigeons and doves get the care they need. Right now we are in the 30's. But we need at least 15th!!!

Here is something random. I have two Ring neck doves. What (if anything) can i give them as treats once in a while. They are well fed and everything.. I just like to spoil my pets and I haven't found anything they like yet. Any suggestions??
Well, I give my ringneck doves green things for treats. I know they love celery, cucumbers, tomatoes, brocolli, etc. I think it's a good idea to give them things other than just seeds and grain. I've even given mine hard boiled egg before too.

I'm not sure how they would be with fruits like oranges and kiwi. I know that tropical birds love those kinds of things, but I haven't looked into feeding them to my doves.

It's very enjoyable to have a treat to give them, and some birds like certain things more than others. My one female dove loves peanuts.:)

How old are your doves, and do you have a pair?
Now there's some ideas... I didn't think of greens yet.

I'm not 100% on their age as they are a rescued pair. But they are believed to maybe be about 2 years old. They were both small when I got them and have grown in size to some extent. They are not sexed but by watching we've figured out that they are both female (Each one laid an egg in front of us haha)

The smaller on of the two also as issues with her feet due to the cage her previous "owners" had them in. Her toes lay on their sides and are very twisted. We've helped her figure out how to walk and perch again though and she seems MUCH happier and healthier now.

Hence why I want to give them some extras now that they are better. :3
It's wonderful what you've done with them. :) I'm very glad they gave been able to get such a loving home. It would be great to give them extras for sure. Have you put some photos of them up yet? I would love to see them.:)

Dovlies are so lovely. They are beautiful birds.
